    Faculty/Division: School of Management

Department: Joseph L. Rotman School of Management

    Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)

Description: The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the Economic Analysis and Policy Area. The appointment will be at the rank of Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Economics or a closely related field, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths in real estate and urban economics, macroeconomics, international trade, and industrial organization. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. For this position, candidates must have a strong track record of research and teaching in real estate economics, real estate finance, or related fields. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence, which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked academic journals in Economics or related fields, e.g., American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, and journals of similar caliber, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, an active research pipeline, and other noteworthy activities in the field of real estate economics, broadly construed, that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a willingness to undertake graduate supervision; and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments and/or a track record of successful policy presentations and public engagement, as summarized in the teaching dossier, submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference. A strong performance during the on-campus seminar presentation will also be essential evidence of accomplished teaching and communication for short-listed candidates. This search aligns with the University's commitment to strategically and proactively promote diversity among our community members (Statement on Equity, Diversity & Excellence). Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply. Applicants are invited to include in their cover letter any experiences, or planned future contributions, to equity, diversity and inclusion, in the areas of research, teaching, and/or service. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
