A Brand New Day…Let’s All Start Walking The Talk

Now that sounds like a pretty macabre thing. But if you think about if for a minute, you would realize that if we were not here, got wiped out in one fell swoop, the world would regenerate itself in a couple hundred short years.

You can already see how much carbon has been removed from the atmosphere as a result of businesses shutting down because of the Covid Plague.

But the human species has somehow got it in its head, especially since the time of the Industrial Revolution, that the world was nothing but a huge candy store with an endless supply of whatever was needed to make the things that people needed and wanted.

We are now finding out that there is a terrible price to pay for that way of thinking, because in just a couple hundred years, our population has exploded, and the greed and avarice of those who control businesses has become unbounded, and there is little to no little regard for the simple fact that we simply cannot plunder resources from this planet without making it standard operating procedure to either recycle and re-use them, or in the case of things like forests, re-grow them.

This all came about, I believe, as a form of arrogance on the part of the so called giants of the industrial age. For these people profit was everything and environmental responsibility was virtually non-existent.

They built huge manufacturing operations, and massive car companies. The sunk shafts by the millions into the earth to plunder the minerals they found there. They polluted water to facilitate their processes, and the filled the skies with carbon laden smoke from their operations without any regard for the health and well being of the people or even their own workers.

But we have seen an alarming increase in global warming, the melting of the polar ice caps and subsequent raising of the levels of the oceans, the decimation of the rain forests and the loss of thousands of bird and animal species and all the other goodies that go along with climate change of this magnitude. The human race has now been pushed to the dangerously close to the direct road to extinction, while continuing to grow in numbers at an alarming rate.

But, and there’s always a but, there are a great many people around the world who see the place in time where we are now not so much as a tipping point, but more of a turning point.

They see that there are abundant resources that can power virtually everything without creating the CO2 emissions that are destroying the atmosphere and without a wholesale plundering of the mineral wealth of the earth.

These are the people who are looking at the past as a stage we more or less had to go through in order to develop the technologies that are going to turn things around, and create vibrant economies based, not on taking but on making much betters use of the things we have always had in abundance…the sun, the wind, the natural heating of the earth, the tides and the currents.

These people are coming up with wonderful new ways to create whole industries around renewable resources. And helping the world reduce its dependence on the resources and processes that are choking us to death.

These people, from Elon Musk on down to the small renewable think tanks that are forming in garages and homes all over the world, these people and the businesses they are creating are the beginning of a Brand New Day for the world.

A day when the most important ideas, the ones that get major financial backing and consumer acceptance, are the ideas that work with the gifts our planet has been given, and minimize the amount of resource depletion so the planet can recover and grow green and healthy again, like it used to be back in the day when people lived in caves and hunted only for the food they needed.

This is the world I have been watching come about for several years now. And not a moment too soon, because we are now living in the time when reality has struck, when climate change is a real thing, and the plundering of the earth is only adding fuel to a raging fire.

It is a time for real change, sustainable change, that will benefit not just the people here now, but all of those in the generations to come.

It’s time for us to start thinking of ourselves as what we really are, which is human beings…all of us...no exceptions. And as human beings, we should do whatever we can to help turn the world into a great place to live again.
