A Logical Opinion About Abortion & A Woman’s Right To Choose

ha Va,

There has been a lot of controversy lately about the draconian anti-abortion laws that the state of Alabama has recently passed.

Let’s overlook the fact that this law is on its way to becoming a test case that can lead to a national anti-abortion law, which in turn, would set America Society back more than 50 years.

Let’s also overlook the fact that the people creating this legislation are pretty much all men of the conservative persuasion, many of whom have been raised in homes where the father was the supreme ruler and the mother was nothing more than a housekeeper, concubine, heir producer, nanny and cook.

These are obviously men who possess zero respect for women, and sadly there a more than enough of these men to go around.

Let’s further overlook the hypocrisy of how the removal of a woman’s right to choose is completely obliterated by this law. In fact this right to choose has now been made a capital crime against women, as has the enabling of this choice by physicians.

Furthermore it actually gives tacit permission for those who would be inclined to rape a woman the peace of mind of knowing that their victims will suffer in more ways that they did before this law was passed, and that their punishment will probably be lessened as a matter of course.

Wow, there’s a lot to overlook. But what I personally cannot over look is the religious aspect of all of this, which really forms the basis for the law in the first place.

The anti-abortionists argue that all life is sacred because it is created by ‘God’, and because this is true, the taking of that life through abortion basically amounts to a form of murder.

But one thing is a logical consequent of another.

What that means is that in order to prove that a murder has taken place, one first has to prove that that life was in fact created by god, which, in turn, requires proof of the actual existence of god.

In other words, if the existence of god is something that people take on faith, without proof, that cannot be used as evidence in determining whether a murder by abortion has actually taken place.

In a nation of laws, which the United State proudly claims to be, this is what is knows as flawed logic.

That is not to say that a god of some sort does not exist. But what it does say, quite clearly, that since there is no empirical proof of God’s existence, there is no way to know for sure what his will actually is.

People of faith, and I have nothing against them, are basically following a belief. They are not worshiping an entity. And I admire that in people, since I don’t really believe in the sort of god that is the construct of religion, but more the god that is evident to me in nature.

But either way, this is still a belief, not a proven fact. And so any laws that are made based on belief and not fact are, by their very nature, flawed. Which means they are not really laws at all. Just opinions.

And if they are opinions, every individual in a so-called free society has the right to their own.

Therefore a women’s right to choose, in a so called free society, is hers and hers alone, just as it is anyone’s right to hold a contrary opinion.

What we cannot have are legal entities such as congresses or judges turning opinions into laws without proof.

But sadly we don’t. Sadly, opinions are being turned into laws, that are going to cause irreparable damage to the fabric of society. And if indeed there is a god, and it is anything like it is described in most religions, I cannot believe it would ever condone such behaviour.

Not for a nano second.

This is one of those issues that is so clear that people can actually take sides.

JIm, I agree with the idea that sides can be taken. Unfortunately, once sides are taken, logic no longer applies. And so it goes.
