Home, Work & Play
The moment I saw this buzz I hit my hand on my forehead and saw the missing connection in the spine of my own wisdom. It was not Home, Work & Life - it is Home, Work & Play. That I have missed this idea of play is not that I had not thought about things like gamification, but I could not place where PLAY would fit - until I saw the beBee infographic in Javier's buzz.Buzz Submitted by : Javier Cámara Rica
Buzz: Work & Play
The Founders of beBee relate work and play to the meaning of Living
Paradox Wisdom are chess pieces - but not the black and white chess pieces on a chessboard but organic chess pieces that evolve with life. Nor do I ascribe to the word that I hear often which is "play the game". For sure the way our world has been set up in terms of an economic jungle we are often left with few choices other than to play the game. Of course we can buy a hut in the foothills of Montana miles from any town, but that would require either learning to live off the land or having plenty of daddy's money.
Since I love the urban landscape I am not hiking to Montana anytime soon. I love urban life so much that when I visited the cities of New York and Sao Paulo in Brazil, I immediately felt at home with all the concrete. I like when I can instantly see a missing piece because my neurons become a firework display inside my head and then I am off to the races. Being that right now it has just passed 6:30am in the morning - my mental bandwidth is as fresh as a daisy.
While play now has a home in my Paradox Wisdom, home is still where it is at for me and here home is a universal concept and not a 21st Century one. Indeed it is the darkness of the Industrial revolution that plundered meaning of life away from home and into work. So much of the fabric of humanity was imprisoned in a mindset that is necessary for the Industrial age - but this is a mindset that needs to be set free in the Knowledge Age. So much of that mindset is also tied into the masculinity of taking the spiritual away from the individual and putting it in the hands of powerful interests, where the Church is a masculine representation. Both the industrial complex and the religious establishments represent the height of old power.
The knowledge age should free us from these selfish tyrannies which created industrial age thinking and turned spirituality into a groupthink. As we descended into groupthink, even concepts such as "Power to the People" was a cry from the same imprisoned ideology - except these cries can only make the walls of the prison prettier to live in - but a prison is still a prison.
