There is a huge difference in strategy between marketing & business development.

The part of marketers  that are just thinking to use social media hashtags to reach out to decision makers got it all wrong.

Social media isn't a new advertising tool, it is a lifestyle with platform to engage the conversation with a purpose.

You often read CONTENT is KING ! That is very true in marketing, in communication , in social relationships and way more in business development.

Again, marketers, do not confuse ADVERTISING and business development.

Advertising do not sell anything, it is the science and arts compilation to forge a message and distribute it to the TARGETED audience.

You really need to start with who you want to engage with,to open the door to a conversation, the ethics requires you to ask once, and move forward if people have not interest at all.

Now another rule says, don't talk to people you do not know. It is a golden rule, yes, but obsolete in business development...so define your purpose, who are you 1st?

An Influencer or a Business Developper ?

The first one opens with authenticity, the second one with Trust. People will relate to an authentic person. They also will or will not trust a business developer..but stating you are, build a clear frontier about your purpose.
