Physical Intelligence - Day 75

A part of physical fitness for some people does play out in the realm of sexual function.  It also plays out because of what we think others think of us and this is no more vivid than in the strange ritual of some guys who have entered mid-life crisis. 

The number of times I have seen an aging middle age guy dressed sporty and driving an open top sports car is now countless.  I drive a beaten up VW and there is no compulsion for me to worry about the loss of youth.  I did once have a cold-sweat moment but that was when I was in my mid-20's, on that one night I awoke from a nightmare that I had suddenly gone bald.  I remember coming out of that dream and running to the bathroom just to make sure my thick ladened black hair was all there.  So there it was - a momentary mid-life crisis at the age of 25, but gone by the first ray of light of a new morning on that day.

Buzz Luhrmann captured the reality of aging ever so well in his song sunscreen.  I actually wish I had listened to it earlier in my life because also in my mid-20's when I went to visit California, I decided to sit out in the sun for the entire afternoon and my skin got roasted (without sunscreen).  How that plays out in the coming decades remains to be seen, but as I get more and more hair loss, the difference between the burned skin and the balding area of my head is clearly distinct.  Sunscreen as a song says all there needs to be said about healthy aging :
