This time last year the issue was sugar and the same is true this year but I will touch upon that tomorrow because today turned out to be unexpectedly brilliant due to a chance encounter of a documentary which ran from 4:30pm to 7:00pm on the Golf Channel. Ordinarily I have no reason to watch the Golf Channel, other than to cheer for Team Europe during Ryder Cups.
Yet what caught my eye was a movie about golfing legend Seve Ballesteros called "Seve the Movie" and having watched the opening part it was so moving personally for me that I watched the last 90 minutes of it as a part of my gym. This is the first time I had a combination of sweat and tears of absolute appreciation running down my face. I had no idea that there was this movie about his life and by the time I had finished watching it, it moved me deeply.

The life-sports relationship is a frequent and common discussion. What is not discussed and this is actually hard to do, is to get to the personal being of say someone like Seve Ballesteros - not an opinion about his life but our own personal connection, where we are able to imagine ourselves in his shoes. That then becomes a fusion of character and this fusion is a unique relationship between us and the individual whose life we have chosen to relate to. This is very difficult because it demands of us to see that person as a human being along with their vulnerabilities. We can imagine the greatness but it is really difficult to imagine the day-to-day - and we cannot assume to know the person, but ask ourselves what we would do in a similar situation or what the story says about the relationship we have with our own family. Otherwise sports anecdotes abound everywhere and we can write books about the life-sports relationship without altering a single cell of our own being. Something that should be special and inform us from within becomes external and a subject of study. For me Day 8 was a complete accident and a good one at that and these happy accidents emerge and not something we plan for. I am glad how this emerged but it is a life-sports emergence and there is something individual here that brought tears to my eyes - I must remain with that - because at this point I hold the sacred.

This has to be serendipity of the highest order. I had no idea about Seve the Movie until I saw it today - it is a MUST WATCH. Learning that Sergio won his first major in 74 attempts - it is said that has had fans against him in the past, but today the fans took to him and willed him on to win in the play off. I watched his interview because I wanted him to acknowledge Seve and he did. I also learned of a Spanish golfer who finished Tied 27th as one to watch for the future, his name is Jon Rahm. http://www.augusta.com/masters/players/bios/Jon_Rahm.shtml I was shocked to learn that golf no longer has the Spanish Open. This must change ! These are things that I learned just today, but the life of Seve - especially with the British Open, naturally he was a huge figure in Britain as I was growing up and it is great to have seen him play and engage at the height of his power. I think I should sleep now going to bed at 5:40am is not what I was supposed to do - noting that this buzz is about my own physical intelligence !!!
