- Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in biology, related to ecology, hydrology, wetlands, botany, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- At least 1-3 years of relevant field experience in environmental consulting or equivalent.
- Proven field skills and willingness to work in the field in remote locations for extended periods of time if required.
- Experience in satellite and aerial imagery interpretation, classification, and delineation of wetlands in the field in Alberta.
- Experience using ArcGIS software.
- Skills in vegetation identification, hydrological indicators, and hydric soils.
- A driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
- Experience or interest in supporting other biophysical study areas such as reclamation, vegetation, wildlife, soils, and/or fisheries field assessments.
- Experience classifying and delineating wetlands in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and/or British Columbia. Based out of your home office in Calgary or Edmonton, you'll work as part of our wetlands team to contribute to the environmental planning and permitting efforts of government and privately-owned infrastructure projects. You will have the opportunity to support projects through field data collection efforts, and assist with the development of technical reports, review of field data, data management and regulatory applications as needed. This flex contract position will be a 12-month contract with an anticipated 30% of travel for fieldwork and 70% office work. Potential for contract extension or conversion to full-time employment based on performance and anticipated workload.
