Purpose

The Director, Real Time Payments will be responsible for defining the vision, associated roadmap, and delivery execution of Real-time and Batch Payments imperatives across Scotiabank.

This role will lead a team to strategize, visualize, prioritize, and implement Payment's products that unlock value for the bank and its customers and modernize our legacy platforms.

This includes developing new and innovative propositions for businesses and consumers in collaboration with internal product groups.

The Director will represent Scotiabank at various Real-time Payments industry forums informing the bank's perspectives and internal delivery plans.

In addition, this role will lead Real-time Payments commercialization strategies and activities associated with launching new Real-time Payments products in the market.

Success in this role will require a self-starter, capable of close collaboration with technology, business product, compliance, legal, operations, and other stakeholders.


What You'll Do:


  • Identify Realtime Payments opportunities relevant to customer demands and emerging ecosystems
  • Partner with stakeholders across consumer and business payments product groups to determine needs, gaps, and strategic fit for new Realtime Payments products
  • Develop Realtime Payments commercialization strategies including distilling market research, internal insights, and global practices
  • Implement a modernized Payment Platform supporting the processing of domestic Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) responsible for $1.9 Trillion in annual value
  • Define business case(s) and benefits for identified opportunities/products
  • Execute Realtime and EFT Payments program delivery partnering with technology, sales, product, operations, and other groups
  • Collaborate with the bank's International Banking (IB) partners to identify and implement new propositions, leading practices, and related business initiatives
  • Support Realtime Payments industry discussions and workstreams with Payments Canada, Financial Institutions, and other industry partners/vendors

What You'll Bring:


  • 8+ years of relevant Strategy, Consulting, or Product experience within the financial services industry
  • Deep understanding of digital payments
  • Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs), Bill Payments, Real-Time Payments, Wire Payments, Cross-Border Payments, International ACH and/or other emerging payments methods
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills to drive crossfunctional teams to deliver Realtime Payments based products/propositions
  • Previous experience in delivering complex, largescale initiatives across crossfunctional teams in Lean/Agile operating environments
  • Proactive and effective communicator, experienced in presenting information to various internal/external audiences along with ability to facilitate large group discussions to drive alignment
  • An affinity for payments and its future, deep curiosity about current trends and upcoming innovations
  • Proven track record of defining and executing payments strategies, decision making and critical thinking
