Education Coordinator (Term - 1 Year)
The Education Coordinator will join the Communications and Enforcement Team reporting directly to the Communications Manager.
The key functions of this dynamic and challenging position based on the primary goal of inspiring waste reduction through behavioural change are as follow:

Health and Safety - becomes familiar with and adheres to all aspects of the occupational health and safety system.

Operational: Becomes familiar with and applies the Valley Waste-Resource Management Bylaw the associated Directives and Provincial Regulations pertaining to source separation of waste-resources. Becomes familiar with contracted waste collection processes and private waste collection services. Participates in active discussions with other Valley Waste team members to learn about compliance levels in the all sectors.

Educational: Effectively educates Valley Region residents and businesses on waste management issues as the first step in promoting compliance with Bylaws and Regulations. Performs presentations/workshops/tours directed at Industrial, Commercial & Industrial enterprises, schools, community groups and apartment complexes.

Community Relations: Works within education and outreach plan and prepares associated educational materials. Assists with promotional and community outreach events.

Compliance: Monitors compliance and works with office and management centre staff to promote compliance with VWRM Policies and Bylaw. Maintains accurate and orderly files on complaints and cases forwarding files that require enforcement to the Bylaw Enforcement Officer.
The successful incumbent will have:
- Community college diploma or university bachelor's degree with an environmental focus, or equivalent experience and a strong interest and knowledge of environmental issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with a diverse audience.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Familiarity with maps and mapping systems.
- A valid Nova Scotia Driver's License.
