We are currently recruiting for a Recreation Facilitator to fulfill the duties of a permanent position.


Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Therapeutic Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults Certificate or its equivalent in experience and training, or willing to enroll and successfully complete within a reasonable time frame.
  • Applicants with a certificate will be given priority, applicants with a certificate in progress will be given second priority.
  • Experience in program planning and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certificate in Safe Food Handling required.
  • All Employees are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with the Betel Home Policy Immunizations for Betel Home Employees.

Position Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager, develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic and recreational activities all Residents based upon individual need; assesses Resident's progress by developing client-centered goals; works with volunteers and community groups; maintains accurate records and statistical data.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develops, implements, and evaluates all therapeutic and recreational activities designed to meet the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual wellbeing of Residents based on individually identified needs.
  • Evaluates progress of assigned Residents, ensuring participation rate is satisfactory, and establishes clientcentered goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and can be achieved in a timely fashion using a suitably identified intervention.
  • Maintains Resident records according to department policy, keeping leisure care plan and integrated progress notes up to date.
  • Provides supervision and supportive leadership to volunteers and students.
  • Arranges for sufficient number of volunteers at programs, advising of changes/cancellations as necessary, and recording volunteer hours following the program.
  • Reports any changes in Resident or incidents at programs to Nursing Department and Recreation Manager.
  • Completes and maintains accurate program procedures.
  • Records Resident attendance on attendance record form following each program.
  • Ensures adequate space, materials, and equipment are available, utilized, and appropriately stored for all programs.
  • Maintains equipment in efficient working order, reporting any necessary repairs/replacement to Recreation Manager.
  • Provides a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment at programs for the Residents.
  • Adheres to departmental and facility policies and procedures.
  • Distributes appropriate information regarding special events and outings to all departments in a timely manner.
  • Participates in monthly departmental planning meeting and as a member of the interdisciplinary team in weekly Care Conferences as required/assigned.
  • Coordinates seasonal decorations within the building.
  • Responsible for maintenance of pet programs and upkeep of infacility pets.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
  • Adheres to outlined cleaning procedures and schedules for the purpose of infection control.
  • Ensure safety of residents at all times.
  • The above listed duties and responsibilities reflect the core functions of the position. Related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to the operation of the facility.

Part-time hours: 20 per week
