This role can be based out of one of our Southern Ontario offices that include Ottawa, Markham, Mississauga, St. Catherines, Toronto, Waterloo, and Whitby.

    Our EDO BIM Group works within a collaborative environment for various large-scale Provincial, Regional, Municipal industrial and commercial projects. Our team provides integrated Engineering services that facilitate project lifecycle from initial policy and promotes project economics and business case advice, through concept, environmental assessment, detailed design, permitting, construction administration and asset management support services.

    In conjunction with the Regional BIM Manager, Project BIM Coordinators and BIM Discipline Designers (collaboration), the BIM Manager's role is specific to those candidates who embraces modern technologies and applications in progressive engineering design delivery workflows with a keen eye to the details that enable project teams to be successful, meeting client needs and requirements.

    Skills, Competencies and Qualifications

    Responsible for:

  • Implementation of project/client software templates and standards, and ensure technical processes are integrated into project workflows and followed.
  • Conduct model audits to ensure compliance and report on outcomes.
  • Coordinate and manage project federated model(s) and linked drawing deliverables and documentation outputs.
  • Represent BIM Team with tendering, proposals, and submissions to define BIM scope, workflows, and plans on projects in multi-discipline environment.
  • Realize BIM compliance through technical design requirements and BEP requirements.
  • Customize authoring tool templates for specific EDO disciplines.
  • Ensure spatial coordination and software interoperability.
  • Lead and Mentor BIM Coordinators with federated project model and clash reporting models.
  • Check models for overall health quality, consistency and general aesthetics.
  • Provide training and assistance to projects.
  • Coordinate and lead implementation of project/client software templates and standards.
  • Work with project BIM Coordinators to ensure BIM and other technical processes are integrated into project workflows and are followed.
  • Lead Projects with model audits for model integrity compliance and report on outcomes.
  • Lead project teams in the coordination and management of project federated model(s) and any linked drawing deliverables and documentation outputs.
  • Provide design teams with assistance during tendering, proposals, and submissions to help ensure BIM scope, workflows and project expectations are met.
  • Assist BIM Coordinators in realizing BIM compliance through technical design requirements and BEP requirements.
  • Assist specific EDO disciplines with authoring tool template customizations.
  • Assist project teams to ensure/enforce spatial coordination (software interoperability).
  • Assist BIM Coordinators with federated project model and clash reporting models.
  • Supporting Discipline Leads in checking models for general 'good work' habits and quality health checks.
  • Assist BIM Coordinators in providing training and assistance to the project team specific to BIM-related best practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure Project Information Models (PIMs) are delivered in accordance with the agreed project BIM protocols and development plans.
  • Ensure Project Coordinators meet the validate levels of model development at each project stage.
  • Ensure the management of model transfer and version control protocols are followed.
  • Continually monitor and maintain the naming convention standards and project folder locations.
  • Support EDO initiatives through general and project specific BIM training documentation.
  • Monitoring and validate the Asset Information Model tagging with all related project documents ., the H&S file(s) and O&M Manual(s).
  • Assist BIM Coordinators with handover of information at project milestones.

    • Success Measures:

  • Shares knowledge and lessons learned with the EDO BIM Team/project teams.
  • Help in finding time efficiencies and budget savings.
  • Ensuring consistent quality of models and deliverables is received.
  • Models that meet project and client requirements.
  • Project deliverables are delivered in line with the design team's requirements and expected quality specific to budget and scheduling constraints
  • Evidence that incremental improvement has occurred with the business group/team.

    • Competencies/Capabilities

    General:

  • Understanding of GHD Winning Work and Project Delivery systems.
  • Assist and manage design related tasks and issues (design management skills).
  • Identifies and rectifies any BIM issues; communicates effectively with the Project Manager | Design Manager, BIM Coordinators and Project BIM Discipline Leads as necessary (critical thinking skills).
  • Possesses a sound discipline understanding of BIM. Able to effectively coordinate design, across disciplines.
  • Possess a sound understanding of project, contractual and modelling requirements.
  • Ability to manage peak work periods for milestone delivery and stressful periods.
  • Understanding client and custom software templates to suit project specific needs.

    • Technical:

  • Software Capabilities may should include but are not limited to: BIM 360, ACC, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Synchro 4D, Rhino, ProjectWise, MicroStation.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of VR/AR/XR technologies.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of BIM | Point Cloud interoperability.
  • Possesses advanced software skills and a solid understanding of software interoperability.
  • Advanced exposure to ISO19650 compliant workflows and can lead others in this area (including Parts 1, 2 and 3).
  • Firm understanding of Common Data Environment (CDE) configuration and ongoing information management processes, systems, and information states (., BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise).
  • Firm understanding of Digital Twin methodologies.
  • Exposure to GIS and BIM interoperability.
  • Firm understanding of Level of Development (LOD) definitions and integration.

    • Behavioural:

  • Is an effective communicator; able to communicate and direct across the project teams.
  • Possesses excellent soft skills, interpersonal and good listening skills teamed with excellent collaboration abilities.
  • Candidate must be an initiative-taker who possesses the drive to pursue continued BIM education and help promote BIM within EDO.
  • Capable of Leading BIM project teams and BIM Coordinators and the ability to motivate others effectively.

    • Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10-year experience working in within BIM projects.
  • Diploma or higher-level qualification in relevant field.
  • Acquired or eligible for BIM certification (if applicable).
