This is a student position of at least 16.5 hours per week, for a 2-year period, from January 2024 to December 2025.

$22.71 to $34.59 per hour (The rate of pay will be determined based on the student's experience.)

Assessment accommodation


Duties:

This student position will provide technical support on the OERD land project.

He/she may be involved in the following assignments during the work term:


  • Carrying out bench scale water chemistry tests, by using basic and advanced analytical instruments (pH meter, auto-titrator, flash chromatography, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry) and assisting with instrumental maintenance.
  • Documenting experimental methods and observations, and reporting results in the form of computer-generated spreadsheets.
  • Occasionally providing assistance with pilot-plant experiments.

Education:


Enrolled or willing to enroll in a Master's program at a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or a related field.

Degree equivalency


Experience:


Experience in performing or researching methodologies in the analytical chemistry discipline, such as instrumental analysis, sensor development and water chemistry analysis.


  • In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Organizational Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel to conferences and training courses.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials.
