Position Summary:

The Volunteer Coordinator is the connection between community members and the
Volunteer and Foster Programs. The Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate with the
team to determine department support and ensure operational needs are met. This
position will have regular, daily involvement with other WHS departments, volunteers,
foster volunteers, and community of the Winnipeg Humane Society.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain volunteer recognition supply inventory and communicate for reorder.
  • Contribute to planning meetings to assist management with department
- operation and strategic direction.
  • Determine day to day resources and supplies required for annual department

- budget.
  • Coordinate volunteer engagement activities and requests for foster animal
- placements.- on suitable activity matching.
  • Facilitate orientation and coordinate training of team members.
  • Monitor ongoing satisfaction and effective utilization of volunteer placements
through feedback, evaluations and follow-up from volunteers/fosters and
staff/management.

  • Work with the team with planning and execution of appreciation events and
recognition program(s).

  • Create a friendly and professional environment to enhance courteous service;
ensure clean, attractive, and organized work areas.

  • Provide excellent service to community supporters including shelter and foster
volunteers.

  • Communicate with internal and external volunteers via bulletins, virtual and in
  • Communicate activity and departmental guidelines to volunteers.
  • Contribute content and coordinate communications for newsletter, bulletins,

- and recognition pieces.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and
- volunteers/fosters from diverse backgrounds promoting inclusivity.credentials, assessments, background checks and volunteer status, hours, and
notes in Volunteer Management Software.

  • Coordinate and liaise with department to determine appropriate volunteer
schedules.

  • Determine gaps in volunteer schedules and work with the team to recruit.
  • Other tasks as reasonably assigned.

Directly accountable to the Director Volunteer & Foster or designate for the
performance of all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Completed education in administration or one year experience equivalent.
  • More than 2 years less than 4 years experience:
  • Leading and coordinating programs/projects/committees.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and working with volunteers.

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Enthusiastic, excellent customer service skills with the ability to actively listen and
ensure understanding.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written,
with the ability to create and present as required.

  • Works effectively both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively to handle workload within tight

- deadlines.
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point andManagement Software), DBMS, MyTime and Zoom.
