    Description

    Job Title: Clinical and Research Extern at Nursing Innovation Program

    In this role, the Clinical and Research Extern will have the chance to work in a clinical unit and participate in research projects. It's a unique opportunity to enhance nursing knowledge and skills while providing patient care.

    The Extern will be an essential part of the healthcare team, offering direct patient care while supporting high-quality care for patients and families. Additionally, they will engage in research projects to contribute to innovations in nursing.

    The role involves working a minimum of 2 shifts per week, including 1 weekend and 1 night shift per month. Externs may work up to full-time hours based on unit needs.

    Responsibilities for the Clinical aspect of the role include:

    - Identifying patient care needs
    - Assisting with personal hygiene and patient positioning
    - Supporting patient ambulation and communication
    - Conducting assessments and vital signs
    - Promoting patient safety
    - Other duties as assigned

    Research responsibilities may include:
    - Literature reviews
    - Participant recruitment
    - Data collection and analysis
    - Ethical applications and reporting
    - Meeting preparations
    - Following research protocols

    Education Requirements

    Seeking nursing students in their 2nd-4th year of a BScN/BSN program, final year of an accelerated program, or Internationally Educated Nurses meeting specific criteria. Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
