The Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist supports a group of Hospital staff, Consultant Surgeons, Ophthalmologists, Ocular/Radiation/Medical Oncologists and Clinical Fellows.


Duties

  • Capture digital images of internal eye, fluorescein angiography, anterior segment and external eye slit lamp imaging;
  • Gonioscopy;
  • Ultrasonography of internal, anterior segment and external eye, both A/B scan and UBM;
  • Retinal and anterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography;
  • Demonstrate various diagnostic techniques and equipment to Medical Students, Residents, and Clinical Fellows etc. As all imaging techniques contribute to the diagnosis, measurement, Rtx treatment planning and follow up of ocular tumours, quality and consistency of results are of the highest standard.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in biomedical photography is preferred or a related ophthalmic field or recognized equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of practical and related experience and/or 2 years onthejobtraining required
  • Ophthalmic Photographers' Society membership required
  • In depth knowledge of ocular anatomy/terminology and physiology
  • Knowledge of pertinent eye diseases and physiology
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic imaging and scanning techniques
  • Knowledge of digital imaging, file handling, image enhancement and printing
  • Ability to ensure that all imaging and diagnostic testing is performed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ability to interact confidently and reassuringly with patients
  • Ability to monitor results for quality assurance in terms of diagnostic technique and equipment performance
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner
