What you will do:


Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Campus & Space Planning, the Construction Project Manager, is accountable for the effective delivery of assigned multi-million dollar, capital construction projects across the College.

Responsibilities span a broad spectrum covering all areas of project management, including, but not limited to, project planning, construction management, contract administration (including schedule and budget management), and coordination of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, interior design and finishes, plus furniture, fitments and equipment.


The incumbent will participate in all aspects of project execution from program development, detailed contract documentation, consultant procurement, regulatory requirements, tendering, construction, deficiency completion, client occupancy and warranty reviews.


The Construction Project Manager will be required participate as an integral part of the Capital Development administrative team as assigned.


Key duties include, but not limited to:

  • Specifically accountable for the effective delivery of assigned multi-million dollar project(s) at either the North Campus (Finch Avenue and Regional Road 27, Toronto), or the Lakeshore Campus (Kipling Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West, Toronto) plus associated site works, and any additional project management services as may be required short-term by the department;
  • Generates, and/or manages the production of, drawings and specifications for tender purposes and conducts design reviews to analyze the accuracy and completeness of drawings and specifications and conformance with intent;
  • Generates (or coordinates consultant preparation of), specifications for furniture, finishes, equipment, etc. as necessary, for full and complete delivery of the project(s);
  • Analyzes the scope of the project(s) and generates RFP's/RFQ's as required for competitive tender and hires consultants where required; coordinates same and project tendering processes in conjunction with College Purchasing Services, including evaluation and recommendation of quotations/proposals;
  • Manages project design, functionality and completion with internal College departments such as Information and Technology Services, Public Safety and Maintenance and Operations;
  • Recommends architectural and engineering building/project features to support environmental sustainability practices;
  • Advises the Associate Director, or Director in a timely manner of situations, conditions, fiscal concerns, etc., that could adversely impact College business operations or project completion

What you bring to the role:

Education

  • Four year degree in Architectural, Interior Design or related discipline.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be an asset.

Experience and Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office including Excel spreadsheets;
  • Demonstrated skills in space program development, space planning, architectural working drawings and contract document development;
  • Demonstrated skills/training in the fields of occupational health and safety, life safety, construction, mechanical and electrical;
  • Excellent working knowledge of regulatory codes related to fields noted above;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction management and work control systems;
  • Demonstrated skills in financial management of multimillion dollar, multiphased, construction projects
  • Demonstrated skills/training in human resource management, team building, ability to persuade, client service and conflict resolution;
  • Possession of Class G Ontario Driver's License
