Opportunity

  • PCRS seeks an experienced leader for our City Centre Youth Hub. The coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and vibrant space for youth to access the support and services they need to achieve their goals. This person is a natural networkbuilder who sees potential in youth, community, and partnerships. They develop and enhance relationships with all staff, partners, and community. The CCYH Coordinator works closely with the Newton Youth Hub coordinator and shares activities, budgets, and planning for all Surrey Youth Services.
  • The coordinator brings leadership knowledge as well as a solid background in youth engagement and community development. The dropin space provides both brief oneonone support and some longerterm case management, so the coordinator is an experienced youth worker who can quickly build rapport with a wide variety of youth.
  • As a hub for youth services and agencies, the coordinator is integral in the cocreation of culture and collaboration at CCYH; this position requires working flexible hours into the evenings and weekends. This successful applicant is also expected to participate in activities with young people such as sports, art, music etc.
  • Qualifications:
  • B.A. in a related field, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma plus two years' experience or a combination of related work experience/education. Two years of related leadership/supervision experience.
  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Class 5 driver's license and driver's abstract with Business Insurance
  • Driver's abstract must be submitted.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with traumainformed practices
  • Additional Assets:
  • Second language
  • Class 4 Drivers license
  • Bronze Cross for swimming and beach activities
  • Crisis intervention and deescalation training
  • Training to address depression/suicide/mental health assessment an asset.
  • Certification in recreation, arts, and youth engagement an asset
