Temporary Full-Time (April - October, 2024)

The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for 13 Temporary Full-Time Parks Operators.

Reporting to the Supervisor, this position performs all aspects of work related to the day-to-day
operations of Parks outdoor facilities including winter and summer maintenance of parks,
playgrounds, sport fields, trails, horticulture, pool, outdoor ice rinks, winter maintenance
including plowing and salting.

How you contribute to our organization:

Maintain parks and outdoor facilities including inspecting and maintaining baseball diamonds and soccer fields, trimming trees and branches, repairing and painting park equipment, emptying garbages, inspecting, repairing and maintaining playground equipment logs, inspecting, grooming, and repairing trail systems, walking paths and parking lots, maintaining exterior of swimming pool and all splashpad areas.
Performs maintenance checks, oil changes and minor tuneups on any mobile equipment.
Identify invasive species in parks, on trail systems and retention ponds.
Maintain bandshells and set up for community events.
Float equipment for parks and fleet. Float parks scissor lift to all departments, including Fire.
Maintain historical cemeteries.
Hang and maintain all Town flower baskets, downtown planters and hanging baskets in addition to facility and parks gardens, gateway signs and Banting Homestead.
Winter maintenance (plow, salt, shovel and remove snow) during winter months.

What you bring to the team:

Requires successful completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
Requires a Class G driver's licence and the ability to submit a clean driver's abstract.
Requires at least 2 years of experience in a similar position with a minimum of 1 year of experience in the operation of all Parks related equipment/machinery.
Ability to operate and maintain safely and efficiently truck and trailer combinations, front end loaders, tractors and tractor driven equipment including gang mowers, chainsaws, hand and power tools and other park maintenance equipment.
Ability to perform a variety of semiskilled and skilled turf maintenance duties in order to develop, maintain and repair playing fields.

Pay Rate:
$ $28.72, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan

Hours: 40 Hours per week
