Cenovus is currently recruiting for a Lab Technician to join their team at the Lloydminster Upgrader Reporting to the Laboratory Team Lead, you will work collaboratively completing routine tasks in an established time frame, as well as, working independently on projects requiring detailed reporting and observations.


We are looking for a self-motivated, results oriented individual who has a keen interest in performing lab analysis and working in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct quality control testing on process samples and finished products ( i.e. Oil, Water, and Gas samples)
  • Sample analysis using various types of lab instrumentation: IC, ICP, GC, Distillation Apparatus (Atmospheric and Vacuum), KF titrators, and hand titrators.
  • Lab housekeeping duties, stocking laboratory supplies, and general cleaning of equipment, work area, sample management, and waste disposal.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and calibration on lab instrumentation.
  • Efficiently and accurately capture and report data.
  • Follow and maintain all laboratory procedures.
  • Follows all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Position's responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess one of the following: Chemical Technology Diploma, Chemical Engineering Technology Diploma, or B.Sc.
Chemistry- 2+ years' relevant laboratory experience (preferably petroleum industry)- Knowledge of wet chemistry, petroleum and water laboratory techniques- Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation with enhanced troubleshooting skills- The following would be considered an asset:

  • ACPA or ASET certification or eligibility for certification-
  • Experience with equipment such as ICP, IC, Gas Chromatography, etc-
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and SAP-
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment
  • Ability to respond and adjust to changing priorities and workload
