    Homeward Trust Edmonton (HTE) is a not-for-profit organization charged with ending homelessness in Edmonton.

    This philosophy follows the principles of finding housing accommodations first and then establishing the supports required by the client to remain in a home.

    Homeward Trust Edmonton's programs involve both housing (capital project funding, property management, and sourcing access to new or existing units for client use) and supportive services to individuals in or seeking access to housing programs.

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general maintenance, repair and upkeep of occupied and vacant residential properties, buildings and land that are owned, managed or administered by Homeward Trust Edmonton.

    Our housing portfolio includes over 25 buildings (primarily residential or apartment units) that are directly owned or managed in partnership with other stakeholders, with 70 units of designated Indigenous housing requiring both tenant and property management.

    This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor .

    This is a mobile role requiring self-management, initiative, independence of action, and personal accountability, as the majority of duties are conducted off-site and at multiple locations.

    As assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor , plan, coordinate and complete repairs/maintenance and improvements for all buildings, fixtures, appliances, equipment and other general upkeep on a timely basis to ensure tenant satisfaction and safety
    Complete minor suite renovations or upgrade work including painting, general carpentry, plumbing and light fixture upgrades. This includes troubleshooting and performing minor repairs on appliances, plumbing /electrical systems
    Complete general maintenance to building exteriors, parking areas and common areas
    This may include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas.
    Conduct Preventative Maintenance inspections and reporting
    If required, assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
    Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled. Must carry cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.

    Responsible for alerting the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur in residential units.

    Complete make-ready process of vacant apartments as directed by the Maintenance Superviso r.
    Maintain a professional courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
    Minimum High School diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education with technical related courses in trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing etc.)
    Minimum 4 years of experience in residential repair, renovations and maintenance
    Experience in dealing with tenants, contractors and related stakeholders.

    Experience in Indigenous and Indigenous peoples, human services, not for profit organizations and working with disadvantaged individuals is an asset.

    Thorough knowledge and understanding of maintenance systems and equipment.
    General construction, plumbing and electrical knowledge.
    Knowledge of legislation pertaining to residential tenancies, building operating systems & maintenance, and health and safety regulations.
    Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects/priorities.

    Able to build relationships with others (tenants, colleagues, contractors and vendors) in order to achieve results and a reputation for delivering exceptional customer service.

    Available for on-call after hours maintenance duties on shared rotation basis, and available for response 24/7 while on call.

    Valid AB driver's license and reliable vehicle required .
