Purpose


The Platform Manager will join the Brain-Heart Interconnectome Research Program team, a $109 million initiative funded by the CFREF (Canada First Research Excellence Fund).

This innovative program will transform the prevention and treatment of brain-heart interconnected conditions, improving the health and quality of life of Canadians and people worldwide.


In this role, the Platform Manager will primarily be responsible for managing the day-to-day development and implementation of the Brain-Heart Collaborative Data Portal, a consortium effort led by a range of partner organizations, designed to provide a user-friendly data platform with centralized access to curated brain-heart data, data resources, analytic tools and open science archiving capabilities.

The portal will provide end users with cutting-edge data curation (e.g., access to multiple data sources, linkage capabilities, and analytic tools), a data repository, and data management and governance resources.


Reporting to the Chairs of the Brain-Heart Collaborative Portal, and working closely with the BHI Data Portal Steering Committee, the Platform Manager will help to establish the governance system for the portal, manage activities involved in portal development, including the development of strategic partnerships, governance and end user policies and portal timelines.

They will contribute to the Brain-Heart Collaborative Portal's strategic direction, plans and objectives by identifying long-term business cases and relationships with potential research data providers.

The Platform Manager will also be tasked to function as a community liaison linking different organizations, data sources, and stakeholder groups.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the daytoday activities of launching and implementing the Brain-Heart Collaborative Portal
  • Contributes to the development of the flexible data governance structure for the portal
  • Liaises with the Brain-Heart Portal Steering Committee to provide timely updates and communication
  • Interacts with Brain-Heart Portal staff, including data scientists, privacy experts, researchers, and educational specialists to understand the holistic progress of the Brain

Mandatory qualifications

  • Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, or degree in related field)
  • Requires 3 years of relevant experience in program management
  • Experience with data governance, stakeholder engagement, and/or data science
Desirable qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Brain-Heart research ecosystem in Canada
  • Experience implementing data governance systems or tools
  • PMP certification
  • Fluency in French is an asset but not mandatory

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Selfmotivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and communications skills, sound judgment and ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to organize his/her work, in order to meet target objectives and deadlines.
  • Some flexibility in working hours, in addition to accepting occasional travel.
