    What is the opportunity?

    Reporting to the AVP, Investment Management (IM) Operations, the Director, IM Operations acts as a senior operations director for the global investment management division with legal entities in four countries. In this role you will be responsible for a $45M global research budget, operational oversight of the Glass Lewis proxy voting portal reporting into the Proxy Voting Management Committee (PVMC), development and maintenance of a robust system for reporting of soft dollar commissions and key liaison with Mackenzie's Sustainability Centre of Excellence (COE).

    What is the opportunity?

    Reporting to the AVP, Investment Management (IM) Operations, the Director, IM Operations acts as a senior operations director for the global investment management division with legal entities in four countries.     What will you do? IM Research Budget
    • Responsible for the planning and execution of IM's global research services budget including broker research vote and contractual services with a focus on cost optimization.
    • Develop data-related investment team boutique level reporting/dashboards to use in making informed decisions to optimize usage, renew contracts and promote efficiencies.
    • Work with IM Senior Management on appropriate allocation of costs to drive transparency and decision-making.
    • Lead the annual broker research vote being proactive with IM Team Leaders to ensure research vote is properly reflected during the year. Collaborate with the Head of Trading on the attendant CSA tracking and payment process.
    • Oversee invoice management including validation and approvals driving towards a target state of automation and efficient invoice processing.
    Internal and Client Commission Reporting
    • Develop and maintain a robust soft dollar commission reporting system for the annual board, MRFP regulatory and Institutional Client reporting requirements.
    • Lead contact with Mackenzie's external Commission Aggregator to ensure efficient and accurate soft dollar reporting.
    • Integrate overall commission reporting tools to develop investment team boutique level reporting/dashboards.
    Proxy Voting Management and Sustainable Investing
    • Lead administrative processes associated with Mackenzie's proxy voting process including accountability of quality controls in place to achieve 100% proxy voting record.
    • Manage and monitor proxy voting recall efficacy of a $8B Securities Lending program.
    • Responsible for key proxy voting reporting to Mackenzie's PVMC.
    • Lead administration of fund accounts including setting up of new account and the annual certification process with each IM boutique.
    • Act as controller and relationship manager to Glass Lewis.
    • Collaborate with members of the Sustainability COE on the annual PRI reporting process.
    • Review requirements and suitability of ESG data requests for IM and the Sustainability COE.
    Your experience and skills for this role
    • University degree B. Comm or Finance related equivalent.
    • Minimum 10 years or practical Investment Management Operations related experience.
    • Expert knowledge of policies and procedures in operating an IM division including CSA research, trading, commissions, proxy voting, and information systems.
    • Data-minded with ability to manage data, identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Able to hold conversations with executives and build relationships at all levels.
    • Successfully navigate ambiguity and varying management styles.
    • Strong organizational skills, proactive, self-starter with a sense of accountability.
    • Able to multi-task and independently prioritize tasks.
    • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Advanced Excel & PowerPoint). Database and data management skills desired.
