About this Opportunity


The Technical Writer will play a key role in identifying, assessing and executing documentation requests that increase the efficiency and capabilities across the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Transformation and Performance, the incumbent will play a significant role with driving culture transformation and assisting all business units with creating professional, user-friendly documentation to support our staff, whether it is company policies and procedures, system user guides, on-line help or other technical documentation.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Use industry-standard technical communication authoring tools to write documentation for various business process and procedures across the enterprise. This includes gathering information, organizing content, authoring original content, integrating existing content and publishing to intranet
  • Produce technical and nontechnical communication such as policies & procedures, online help, training guides, quick reference materials, diagrams/flow charts and checklists for various OneCap business units
  • Work closely with the gatekeepers of delivery documentation and communication to ensure timely delivery of information to staff
  • Ensure all document deliverables meet departmental and company standards, consistently
  • Enact BPM and process effectiveness risk standards and controls when reviewing and publishing all documentation
  • Coordinate documentation deliverables to align with project rollouts
  • Increase the awareness and visibility of team process and policies through periodic communications to internal partners.
  • Effectively communicate bottleneck and pain points encountered in day to day work; continuously look for ways to do things better
  • Support strategic enterprise objectives around P&P evolution

  • Demonstrated ability to document technical concepts clearly and succinctly to the targeted audience
  • Solid planning and research skills, along with the ability to structure and organize information from diverse sources
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Quick, independent learner with a proven aptitude for learning new material quickly and ability to followup with individuals without guidance
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and meet documentation deadlines in a dynamic, fastpaced environment while working with established style guide standards
  • Exceptional relationship and communication skills combined with the ability to make decisions, recommendations; providing advice and direction including managing difficult situations where influencing and persuasion is required.
  • Forward thinking capable of assessing impact of decisions on immediate, medium term, and longterm outcomes.

Education, Designations, Training, and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience technical writing experience, with relevant postsecondary education in professional writing disciplines, such as English and Technical Communication, Bilingual (English/French ) would be an asset
  • Selfstarter with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • Transparent, results oriented, and accountable with strong partnership focus
  • Experience conducting presentations at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence, facilitate discussions, resolve conflict and build and manage relationships
  • Adapts to changes and acts as an agent of change
  • Risk and control knowledge and management of same adherence to all process effectiveness risk guidelines and controls

Office Locations:
Toronto or Vancouver Corporate Office. This is a hybrid opportunity. Or can be remote if you do not live close to any of our corporate offices.
