- Work closely with functional areas within the RO to develop business cases and opportunity assessments to identify new/updated technologies to meet transformational business requirements.
- Conduct market and jurisdictional scans to understand potential solutions, best-practices, benefits, and cost-drivers related to opportunities being explored.
- Evaluate potential technology solutions, including off-the-shelf and software-as-a-service/hosted implementation models, and balance this with the existing technology landscape to ensure that recommended solutions meet business requirements, and are aligned with the strategic direction of the RO, ITS, and Dalhousie.
- Conduct financial analysis, including the collection of relevant information and calculation of measurement such as Return on Investment (ROI), payback period, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) regarding recommended solutions. Identify and recommend possible efficiency gains to the RO, including those resulting from FTE repurposing and monitor the organization's progress on achieving the intended benefits through a Business Benefit Realization model.
- Lead departmental projects and upgrades and contribute to interdepartmental projects. This includes investigating, making recommendations and keeping stakeholders apprised of project progress and timelines.
- Undertake business process and systems analysis, which includes gathering and documenting user requirements, researching appropriate solutions, and implementing the improvements. Develop supporting documentation (such as project timelines, technical/functional specifications, test plans, training documentation).
- Undergraduate degree with computing/systems background, plus three to five years' relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis, project portfolio management, business case development, estimation and project planning.
- Experience in best practice research (jurisdictional and market research) and business benefits realization.
- Highly motivated individual with strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong people, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and pay close attention to detail.

Job SummaryThe Registrar's Office (RO) is a large, multi-unit, multi-site operation involved in the entire academic experience of Dalhousie students, from recruitment and admissions through to convocation and beyond. Reporting to the Manager, Business Strategy, the Business Transformation Analyst is a key resource in conducting business transformational analysis to research and recommend technology improvements for the Registrar's Office.
