About Royce Shook:

I give workshops on health and wellness, online as well as in person. I serve on three advisory committees The Mayors' Roundtable, The Advisory Council for the Senior Advocate and the Transit Police Advisory Board
I am also President of our local seniors center association, which has just over 1000 members and I am the Vice-Chair of the Tri-Cities Seniors Action Society which has 1500 members.  I also write, play golf, and enjoy life.

Experience

I currently contribute in the following ways:

Owner Professional Associates Consulting on various issues surrounding retirement and life planning.

President of The Wilson Centre Seniors Advisory Association. Our Society is focused on making recommendations and giving advice to the Port Coquitlam Community centre’s coordinator, on all programs and policies that affect Seniors in Port Coquitlam and works with low-income seniors to ensure food security.

Vice-Chair of the Tri-Cities Seniors Action Society which offers programs and information to seniors about healthy ageing and protection from abuse.

Member Advisory Council for Senior Advocate, our role is to provide advice on what issues affect seniors in British Columbia so the Advocate can investigate and report to the Legislature.

Co-Chair of the Mayors Roundtable of Citizens. Our role is to provide the Mayor with advice on issues that affect people in our community.

Member of the Transit Police Chief’s Community Council which works cooperatively with the Chief Officer and the Transit Police to identify, inform, discuss and address common issues and trends which may impact the effectiveness of community policing and public safety. Such issues may include: crime reduction, prevention and social disorder, customer service, collaboration with the police and other agencies, misunderstandings and stereotypes

Workshop Creator, Facilitator and Trainer Seniors Helping Seniors Health and Wellness Institute COSCO Health and Wellness Institute is a not-for-profit that has, since 2007, provided over 2,300 workshops to over 50,000 seniors free of charge, on health and wellness issues. We offer 45 workshops that focus on providing information and links to resources. Here are the top ten workshops we deliver:

Memory and Aging, Fraud and Scams, Personal Planning, Falls Prevention, Getting a Good Nights Sleep, Navigating Health Care, Wills, and Estates, Social Connectedness, Dealing with Stress, Staying fit at Home.

Before I retired, I contributed in these ways:

Director SHARE Family & Community Services Society Served as a Board member and as an Executive member. Since 1972, SHARE, a registered, non-profit charity, has provided services to help connect, engage, and strengthen individuals and families in the Tri-Cities, Anmore, and Belcarra. SHARE’s services touch over 60,000 people in the Tri-Cities area annually.

Area Chair Curriculum and Instruction University of Phoenix's Responsibilities include aiding the MAED Community Education Liaison officer in developing and maintaining relationships in the education community and building the reputation of the MAED program in B.C. I also taught in the Masters of Education Program, the Masters of Business Administration Program and the Undergraduate degree program

Curriculum Coordinator Ministry of Education Responsible for leading curriculum writing teams that wrote the following curriculum Information Technology K to 7, Information Technology 8 to 12, Applied Academics 11, Business Education. K to 7, Business Education 9 to 12, Law 12, and Economics 12.

Director of Education And Training Micro Skill Solutions Inc Responsibilities included:

  • Development of the formatting, writing and layout of Training Manuals.
  • Creating lesson plans produced by the Company
  • Creating an Introduction to the Educational version of the Manuals
  • Creation and Delivery of a three-hour seminar on the introduction of Software
  • The delivery of six-hour training classes on the Software
  • Creation, writing and delivery of a Three Day Training Program for Training Partners
  • The creation, writing and editing of six-hour training programs for all Products
  • Assisting the Company in the development of Educational Links for the Web Page developed for the Company to market Products, Seminars and Training
  • Creating and following through on the development of a marketing strategy and training approach for educators.

Teacher and Helping teacher Surrey School District Helping Teacher (District Staff) responsibilities included curriculum building and administrative responsibilities for Business, Education, Pre-Employment Programs, Career Development, Career Preparation and Work Experience programs, Teacher of Business Education, Art, Science, Math, Person Planning and Cooperative Education, English as a Second Language Learning Support Specialist. and Teacher on Call.

I also served as a Department Head for Business Education, and Cooperative Education and Personal Planning at the same time.
