As a health authority, employer and facility operator, we have a role to play in the province’s climate action plan and supporting our communities to prepare for climate change impacts. The year 2021 marks the 12th consecutive year we have achieved carbon neutrality as part of the Province of British Columbia's public sector commitment to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
For many consecutive years, Fraser Health has been recognized as a BC Top Employer. Why, you ask?
For many reasons: maternity leave top-up payments (from 17 weeks), flexible work-from-home options for certain roles, a defined pension plan, four weeks’ vacation to start – and the list goes on.
But the key reason: our people.
Throughout the years, our people and their teamwork have inspired countless innovations to help us to deliver on our vision: Better health. Best in health care.
How we care for our people
We strive to create an environment where you enjoy the work you do, the place where you work, and the people around you. From the financial advisor managing our health care resources, to the IT professional enabling life-saving data, to the nurse and physician on the front line of patient care, everyone plays a role in the care continuum.
To support our employees and their lifestyles, we offer: Extended Health Care and Dental, 4 Weeks Vacation, 12 Statutory Holidays, Pension Plan, Relocation Assistance (ask us about eligibility). These benefits are available for our regular full-time and regular part-time employees.
Nick underwent a life changing incident when he was 20. Inspired by the nursing care he received when he was a patient, Nick now shares his experience working with patients in critical conditions as a specialized Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Surrey Memorial Hospital where he has an opportunity to give back!
It takes an incredibly resilient, compassionate, and courageous individual to be a nurse and we salute all those who have dedicated their lives to this noble profession.
How our people enjoy their work-life balance
“Personally, I enjoy working at Peace Arch Hospital Emergency because it is part of the community that I live in and I have always taken pride in that…and who can resist the reality of finishing a shift, walking out the ED doors and strolling down to the beach (on a sunny or even a rainy day) – it’s beautiful…a great way to exhale and debrief after a long day at work!” - Darryl, Patient Care Coordinator.
“I’m from England and I found the transition [to British Columbia] fantastic. I have a 4-year old daughter and we are able to do so much on the weekends. The quality of life and the work-life balance is fantastic - I couldn’t be happier.” - Anna, Social Worker.
