As the largest and fastest growing school district in the province, this position requires an independent thinker, who is self-motivated and maintains a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Availability for evening meetings 3-4 times per month is a requirement, this may change based on operational requirements.


The Executive Assistant provides support to the Secretary-Treasurer and effectively handles the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Office of the Secretary-Treasurer and the Board of Education in areas pertaining to the district's business operations and corporate affairs, board meeting agendas and meeting minutes.

The Executive Assistant demonstrates sound judgment and tact in dealing with trustees, staff, and the public.


Qualifications, Abilities, Knowledge and Skills required:
Post-secondary education in an administrative/business program at a recognized institution. Equivalent experience will be considered;
Minimum five years recent and relevant experience;
Demonstrated strong communication skills including letter and report writing;
Demonstrated exceptional minute taking and agenda preparation skills;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple calendars with time sensitivity and accuracy;
Ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines with attention to detail and in a calm and professional manner;
Ability to identify and understand the sensitive and confidential nature of all types of materials and experience in establishing and maintaining records management systems;
Strong supervisory skills and ability to have a positive influence within a small team and the work environment;
Ability to effectively establish priorities, exercise independent judgment and action in the performance of all duties, and the ability to work under pressure in a wide variety of assignments with mínimal supervision;
A proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, partner groups, senior staff, trustees and the public;
Familiarity with meeting procedures, Roberts' Rules of Order, would be an asset;

Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, accurate keyboarding skills and working knowledge of paperless meeting software, such as eSCRIBE, would be an asset.
