    Description

    About the Company:

My client is a niche environmental consulting firm focused on the areas of regulatory affairs and permitting, Indigenous engagement and relationship building, water stewardship, closure and reclamation planning, compliance and environmental management, and project management. Their primary focus is on the mining and mineral exploration, and they lead permitting and regulatory affairs matters for many projects. They expect to double in size over the next two years due to their continued success and growth and a very strong and successful brand name.

    Position: Environmental Regulatory Coordinator

My client is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Regulatory Coordinator. This position requires an individual with solid organizational abilities, adept documentation skills, analytical thinking, and technical proficiency in the environmental sector. In this capacity, tasks include assisting with environmental assessments, permitting processes, and project coordination. You'll work closely with regulatory agencies, Indigenous nations, stakeholders, client representatives, and consulting teams to address complex challenges collaboratively. This is a fully remote role based in Canada, providing a great chance to work from home while actively contributing to environmental projects.

    Job Details:

    1. Coordinate the project management of multi-disciplinary environmental assessments and permits throughout their lifecycle.
    2. Interpret provincial, territorial, and federal legislation to align with project and client objectives.
    3. Navigate complex permitting processes and procedures to obtain necessary approvals to achieve milestones and deadlines.
    4. Provide strategic regulatory advice to senior management representatives of mining and other resource industry proponents.
    5. Build strong relationships with decision makers and stakeholders at all stages of each project, including Indigenous communities, governments, regulatory bodies, and other environmental consultants.
    6. Manage the development of environmental assessment reports, including content editing, technical language refinement, and expert analysis.
    7. Oversee consultants to ensure timely completion of environmental assessment and permitting deliverables, encompassing baseline studies, modeling, effects assessment, and application development.
    8. Liaise on a day-to-day basis with project team leads, including engineering consultants, to ensure environmental aspects are incorporated into project design.
    9. Support the development and management of project budgets.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Natural/Environmental Sciences, Resource Management, Engineering or Planning (Master's Degree and/or Professional Designation (ex. R.P. Bio., P.Eng.) will be an asset).
    • Canadian regulatory laws and permitting requirements.
    • 5 - 10 years experience related to environmental assessments and permitting.
    • Strong technical writing and attention-to-detail.
    • Exposure to a range of environmental practice areas (ex. air quality, noise, surface and groundwater quality, vegetation, wildlife, fish and fish habitat, socioeconomics, archaeology).
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills maintaining a professional demeanor with high standards and professional integrity.
    • Team player who is collaborative, respectful, and supportive of team development and growth.
