The Town of Kentville is looking for enthusiastic and passionate people who are
knowledgeable about Kentville to fill the important seasonal positions of Assistant
Manager (x1) and Part Time Counsellor (x1) at the Visitor Information Centre located at
125 Park Street in Kentville. Join a relaxed and fun working atmosphere helping visitors

Position Summary (Assistant Manager/Manager in training)
In addition to the general duties as listed below, the Assistant Manager works with and
trains under the Manager of Visitor Services and the Community & Economic Development
Coordinator (CEDC) to learn duties and processes related to managing the facility and
delivering visitor services through the VIC office. As we plan for succession within the
will shadow and receive training from the current manager that will boost their eligibility
when that position is eventually posted.


Position Summary (Part time Counsellor)
Work with the Manager of Visitor Services and Assistant Manager to deliver information
and visitor services to the travelling public that support positive visitor experiences in
Kentville and throughout the region.


General Duties and Responsibilities (all positions):

  • Maintain promotional displays within the Visitor Information Centre.
  • Maintain an inventory of all information arriving and being disseminated at the


  • Visitor Information Centre.

  • Provide guidance and support to visitors using the services of the VIC including
- assisting with the coordination of room bookings and other visitor requests.
  • Promote awareness of activities and events happening in Kentville.
  • Maintain the Kentville standard for counselling patrons of the VIC and exemplify
  • Kentville's brand, "A Breath of Fresh Air".
  • Small project management related to general operations or as assigned by the


  • CEDC

  • Record and maintain visitor statistics as required.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the CEDC or the Manager of Visitor


  • Services when necessary.

  • Adhere to all provincial and municipal Occupational Health and Safety policies,
- guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain and update the Kentville VIC Facebook and Twitter accounts with fun
- and informative Kentville based campaigns.
  • Maintain standards for customer service as outlined in Town of Kentville policies
and procedures for the center, including the creation/promotion of an
environment that is welcoming and inclusive to all

  • Light tidying and cleaning duties as required.

Requirements for all positions:

and providing excellent assistance to members of the public

  • Tourism and/or hospitality diploma or equivalent education or customer service
experience

  • Thorough knowledge of Kentville and the surrounding area, including popular
attractions, general geography, annual special events and festivals.

  • General knowledge about the province of Nova Scotia.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A great attitude and desire to deliver stellar customer service.
  • Must be available to work some weekends and early evenings, some special
- event support work as required.
  • Adequate computer skills including ability to work in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Social media management experience will be considered an asset.
  • Other training as required will be provided
