    About the Job:




    Position: Registered Nurse

    • Delivers comprehensive sexual assault/forensic nursing care to patients assigned to the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) program.
    • Provides care from a trauma and violence informed perspective, utilizing evidence-informed practices.
    • Assists patients and their support networks in navigating the healthcare system and accessing community resources.
    • Conducts a thorough assessment of the physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of the individual.
    • Evaluates the client's condition and their reactions to existing or potential health issues.
    This presents an opportunity for CASUAL EMPLOYMENT. In this context, 'casual' implies that hours are not predetermined, may vary, and shifts could be short-notice. Casual staff can apply for internal job openings, including permanent and temporary positions.     About the Location/Unit:

    The VJH Emergency Department comprises 26 beds, two trauma rooms, and two secure facilities within the new Polson Tower.

    The spacious and well-lit ED is designed with a focus on confidentiality, privacy, and infection control measures. It is equipped with cutting-edge technology such as cardiac monitoring, diagnostic imaging in the trauma room, negative pressure isolation rooms, communication tools (Vocera, nurse call system), and streamlined care delivery processes (pneumatic tube system, Rapid Assessment Zone, and Minor Treatment Area).
