    Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (Hybrid Work - 3 days in Office)

    The opportunity:

    The Director, Finance is an integral member of the leadership team. The Director, Finance will be responsible for directing and overseeing all accounting and finance functions within TVO. This role is responsible for the systems and processes involved with recording financial information, from planning and budgeting through to the analysis and reporting of results. The Director, Finance will provide strong leadership to the Finance team, ensuring the organization has proper processes, controls, and systems in place to manage financial risk and to support the mission, vision and strategic direction of TVO.

    How you will make an impact:

  • Oversee and direct the day-to-day financial operations of the organization including treasury, accounting, forecasting, analysis, reporting, financial compliance, and procurement.
  • Be the primary technical accounting and finance expert for the organization staying up to date on relevant and emerging accounting standards.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop a team of eight (8).
  • Oversee the organization's monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Provide management with financial information vital to decision making and reporting.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices, ensuring proper internal controls and compliance with government directives.
  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
  • Assess and analyze emerging technologies and developments in finance and accounting, proposing creative ways to enhance financial operations.
  • Incorporate data analytics insights in forecasting to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

    • What you will bring to TVO:

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with seven to ten years of relevant experience, with at least five years in a senior leadership role within the not-for-profit or public sector.
  • Proven team leader with a big picture view, who is service oriented, execution focused, with a strong ability to collaborate across departments and pivot as priorities change.
  • Strong business modelling and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience in data visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Advanced problem-solving proficiency, coupled with a proactive mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven change management skills and can effectively lead and support organizational transformation initiatives.
  • You are a collaborative leader and can train your team to acquire and hone needed skills.
  • You bring a sense of curiosity and a continuous learning mindset, staying up to date with the latest advancements in data analytics.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or Sparkrock 365 and Power BI is considered an asset.
