Material Purchasing Manager - Pembroke, Canada - Axe Staffing & Recruiting
Description
Responsible and accountable for the purchase of all products and services at the Pembroke facility, as well as for IMS compliance.
40% of Time
Purchasing and Inventory Control Activities:
- Source, qualify, evaluate and manage all suppliers to support production.
- Update Operations Manager of any potential material availability considerations.
- Provide suppliers with projected usage and stocking level input.
- Ensure continuous improvement is applied.
- Monitor and share supplier performance metrics.
- Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers including supplier visits.
- Work with suppliers on lead time compression.
20% of
Time Materials Department/IMS Management**:
- Manage department workflow and workload distribution.
- Manage inventory to target.
- Develop and manage department staff through task delegation, mentoring and training.
- Manage incoming material timeliness to support production schedules, ontime shipping, and CRD/order improvement requests.
- Manage resolution of supplier related issues (e.g., quality, delivery, support).
- Ensure IMS requirements are fulfilled and ISO standards are followed.
20% of
Time Planning**:
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure zero plant impact.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business with emphasis on Supply Chain related disciplines

- Interpersonal skills with the ability to relate, communicate, and negotiate clearly and effectively
- Strong proficiency in data manipulation including query writing skills
- Advance MS Excel skills with the ability to learn other computer software programs
- Positive and professional attitude
EXPERIENCE
- 35 years progressive experience in Purchasing or related Supply Chain field
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES
- Supplier Certification Program
TRAVEL
- Domestic travel up to 510% of time
