    Youth Climate Corps British Columbia (YCCBC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth to lead the way in climate action.

    Our programs focus on wildfire mitigation, food sovereignty, ecological restoration, and other key environmental initiatives. We aim to create sustainable and well-paid career opportunities for young people while actively combating climate change.

    The People & Culture Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and develop talent within YCCBC.

    This role will play a key role in shaping our organizational culture and ensuring that our team members feel supported, valued, and engaged.

    Part of a co-leadership team where the Directors of Marketing/Communications, Programs, Operations/Finance and this position work together in collaboration with the Executive Director.

    All Directors work with the board but ultimately report to the Executive Director.

    The People and Culture Director will provide key leadership within the organization in support of a healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable workplace where individuals can be empowered and also grow and perform as a team.

    This role will work together with the Directors of Marketing/Communications, Programs, Operations/Finance and Executive Director to build and support a growing organization.

    The People/Culture Director will help foster an environment where team members recognize each other's strengths and show gratitude toward each other.

    Works with senior staff to foster and uphold a positive work environment that prioritizes inclusion, diversity, equity, belonging and well-being in the workplace;
    Works with staff, advisors and the board to promote reconciliation and decolonization in YCCBC;
    Support the hiring process (recruitment and onboarding process) throughout the organization, with a regular focus on hiring for location-specific programs, which will be done in collaboration with the Program Director and YCCBC Hub Coordinators;
    Review and set staff compensation packages in collaboration with the Director of Operations/Finance and Executive Director;
    Ensure employment contracts and documentation are consistent and meet employment standards;
    Oversee staff performance review frameworks and provide coaching and support to team members to help them achieve their full potential;
    Ensure YCCBC is meeting all required employment laws and standards;
    Develop, implement and supervise training budgets and programs for YCCBC staff, including opportunities for external and internal mentorship;
    Develop and implement policies and procedures to support a positive and inclusive work environment;
    Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, or a related field;
    ~ YCCBC values individual experiences and recognizes that qualifications can be gained through a variety of paths, including lived experience, work experience, and formal education. 5+ years of experience in human resources or organizational development, with a focus on talent management and organizational culture;
    ~ Experience applying and implementing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies and practices in the workplace;
    ~ Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects based on priority;
