Summary


This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.


Responsibilities

  • Assume enterprisewide ownership of all Azure SQL databases and MS SQL Server performance tuning, security, maintenance, backup/restore, and scalability
  • Monitor Azure SQL databases and on prem MS SQL server health, growth, and proactively manage enterprise data systems toward 100% uptime
  • Handson management of BI/Data Analytics tools and jobs running on SQL Server
  • Handson development of strategic performance dashboards & reports using SSIS, SSRS & SSAS
  • Provide daytoday oversight and support of production databases, data warehouse/data marts
  • Extract, load and merge data from multiple sources
  • Administer SQL database user access, roles and permissions
  • Create, maintain and organize knowledge base of existing data systems documentation
  • Efficiently produce adhoc SQL based reports in an ondemand environment
  • Gather functional specifications and business requirements for new programming tasks including DTS packages, stored procedures, triggers etc.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models
  • Define and enforce data governance policies and standards
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and developments in data management and architecture, and identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and approaches
  • Proactively monitor vendor end of support/life for implemented databases, develop plans for database upgrades and/or replacements, and execute database upgrades/replacements with the broader IT team.
  • Contribute to the development of datarelated projects, including data migration, data integration, and data warehousing initiatives
  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience with Oracle database administration
  • Knowledge of VMware and SAN disk configurations as it relates to MS SQL
  • Previous experience with IDERA and RedGate database monitoring and administration tools
  • PowerShell
  • Azure Cloud automation

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of MS SQL database administration and development
  • 5+ years of data analysis and reporting
  • Strong background in SQL Server and Azure cloud database technologies, including experience with Azure Synapse and Azure SQL Managed Instances
  • Experience with Azure storage solutions
  • Proficient in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), Cubes, and data warehouse using Azure technology
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools such as DTS, SSIS, ADF (Azure Data Factory) and Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Experience in index management, Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), and statistics using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Solid knowledge of relational database design
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server and Azure databases
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using various automation techniques including scripts
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of database security best practices and experience implementing them
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills
  • Strong documentation skills
