    As a Payroll Administrator (PA), you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of documentation required in the administration of all facets of the payroll function. Primary duties include:

  • Process pay on a bi-weekly and year-end basis.
  • Audit and problem solve anomalies by making necessary adjustments and communicating these changes to clients and invested parties as required.
  • Comply with the provisions of the salary continuance plans such as Sickness and Accident, Homewood Health, Workers Compensation and paid leaves including health-related portion for maternity leaves.
  • Correct shortfalls and discrepancies and pay the affected employees correctly and on time via Pay Adjustment; administer general deductions including union dues, United Way, maintenance enforcement, income taxes and other garnishments.
  • Calculate and process forms related to Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and issue Record of Employments (ROEs) to Service Canada.
  • Set up Group RRSPs, self-funded leaves, relocation expenses and other taxable benefits.
  • Calculate and process finals, retirements, resignations, and cancelled cheques.
  • Maintain and process attendance records for payroll.
  • Act as the first point of contact in troubleshooting any payroll related matters.
  • Provide coverage for planned or unplanned absences.
  • Qualifications
  • A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation and at least 3 years of directly related payroll experience is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a large organization in a multi-union environment will be an asset.
  • Success in this position requires the following competencies:Sound problem solving ability to identify pay issues, make recommendations, and collaborate and communicate on resolutions.Strong mathematical, reading, analytical, and accounting skills.Well-developed organizational skills to manage a diverse and high-volume workload (ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, multi-task, track and meet deadlines).Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate ides to all staff in a clear and concise manner.A high attention to detail, the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team setting.A self-starter and motivated individual.
