The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recognized internationally for its clinical, educational and research excellence.

Our faculty are clinical and academic leaders who are breaking new ground on issues ranging from inner city health, addiction medicine, global health, palliative care, immigrant and indigenous health and far more.

The DFCM is home to the Physician Assistant (PA) Program, a full-time professional, second-entry undergraduate degree program delivered in collaboration with Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the Michener Institute of Education at the University Health Network.


As Research Project Coordinator, you will play a key role in support of a novel initiative to improve the health of Ontarians.

You will be part of a world class, multidisciplinary health services research team (primary care, respirology, physicians, biostatistics) collaborating to improve the health of marginalized communities using large health databases.

Relying on your strong organization and analytical skills, you will coordinate all aspects of investigator-initiated research studies.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Coordinating projectspecific activities from project initiation to project completion, including monitor project timelines and maintain study documentation in accordance with institutional policies and procedures
  • Supporting the development of research study protocols, including study design and analytic procedures, amendments for research ethics boards
  • Contributing to the preparation of abstracts, poster presentations, peerreviewed publications and other relevant deliverables
  • Liaising with study team members to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of research projects

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in a health services related discipline
  • Minimum three years' relevant experience coordinating research projects with in an academic and/or healthcare setting
  • Experience supporting multiple projects, including tracking project timelines and deliverables
  • Experience providing administrative support to project groups and committees
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating Research Ethics Board submissions, and understanding factors related to data collection and confidentiality
  • Experience drafting statistical reports and project documentation and conducting literature reviews
  • Experience preparing surveys and questionnaires, compiling results and tabulating statistical data
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, survey tools and video conference platforms (Zoom, MS Teams)
  • Exercising discretion and good judgment in oral, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to interpret results and contribute to manuscripts and other deliverables
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to adjust to changing work plans, schedules and deadlines
  • Strong work ethic andthe ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team and ability to be proactive for identification and resolution of issues
  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and keen eye for accuracy
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
