    Position Information Job Title Associate Vice President, Student Experience Appointment Type Full-time Continuing Position Dates Full-Time Continuing Hours per week/FTE 35 About the Position The Associate Vice President (AVP) occupies a key leadership position within Lethbridge College, reporting directly to the Vice President Academic and Research. As a prominent member of both Deans' Council and the College Leadership Council (CLC), the AVP's role is integral to setting strategic direction and providing administrative leadership that nurtures an ecosystem of academic excellence, comprehensive student support, and continuous innovation. The AVP plays a critical role in the cohesive management and integration of diverse yet interconnected areas—recruitment, advising, registrar, student services, academic support, scholarly activity, program quality assurance, and faculty development—ensuring a unified approach that champions collaboration and drives excellence throughout the institution. The AVP works collaboratively with stakeholders, including senior leadership, management, faculty, staff, and Lethbridge College Student Association (LCSA) to support a high quality, holistic educational experience for all students in all LC academic programs.

  • Position Details The AVP's responsibilities span across a broad spectrum of critical functions designed to enhance the educational landscape of the college, including:
  • Youth Initiatives: Oversee the implementation and expansion of our innovative youth initiatives as vital pathways for high school students.
  • Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM): Strategically guiding the institution's enrollment strategies to attract and retain a diverse student body, including international and utilizing date and analytics to align efforts with the college's growth and diversity objectives.
  • Registrar: Advising, recruitment, registration, systems and procedures.
  • Student Conduct: Oversight of policy, procedures and operations relate to academic and non-academic misconduct.
  • Academic Support and Library Services: Ensuring students and faculty have access to robust academic resources and support services, making the library a pivotal resource for research and learning.
  • Testing Services: Facilitating comprehensive testing services that meet the diverse needs of all students, ensuring a fair and conducive assessment environment.
  • Accessibility Services: Ensuring accessibility for all students by providing tailored support and accommodation to meet our increasingly diverse student needs.
  • Digital Learning and Emerging Technologies: Driving the integration of digital learning tools and emerging technologies into the curriculum, enhancing teaching methods and student learning experiences.
  • Emerging Learning Models: Evaluating and adopting modern pedagogical approaches, such as blended learning, micro-credentials, project-based learning, and online education platforms, to enhance student engagement and prepare students for success in a rapidly changing global job market.
  • Indigenous Services: Promoting culturally responsive services and support for Indigenous students, fostering an inclusive educational environment that respects and honors diverse cultures and histories.
  • Health and Wellness: Overseeing programs and initiatives that support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students, fostering a healthy and supportive campus community.
  • Career Services: Providing career counselling, job search assistance, and networking opportunities with potential employers, preparing students for success beyond graduation.
  • Curriculum Design: Leading the development and ongoing refinement of the curriculum at both course and program levels, ensuring relevancy and rigour to meet the evolving needs of students and industries.
  • Program Quality Assurance: Implementing rigorous quality assurance processes, including adherence to Alberta Quality Council standards, to maintain and enhance the educational standards of all programs offered by the college.
  • Faculty Development: Prioritizing the continuous professional growth of faculty through targeted development programs, workshops, and seminars that emphasize pedagogical innovation, curriculum design, and the integration of technology in teaching.
  • Required Qualifications Education:
  • A Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • A commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
  • 8 to 10 years of progressive senior management roles within a college environment.
  • Strong background in policy development and budget management.
  • Experience in leading, developing, and supporting staff, and managing organizational change.
  • Familiarity with complex, multi-union environments and educational practices.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in initiating and managing change effectively.
  • A positive relationship-builder with demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with students and with a wide range of internal and external key parties locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Willing to invest in the expeditious and judicious resolution of student issues and challenges.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in educational leadership as well as educational practices, issues and trends. Attuned to current developments in student support.
  • Demonstrated awareness, understanding and support for student health and well-being principles, initiatives and frameworks.
  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in planning and review budget development, academic organization and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead significant change, mentor and develop others, and engage in a broad range of people in pursuit of organizational vision and goals.
