Duty Officer to join our growing and ever-changing organization.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, SOCC & Planning, the Duty Officer is responsible to the Senior Manager, SOCC & Planning for overseeing day-of operations within the SOCC, guiding teams from APC, OCC, Crew Scheduling, Dispatch, and MOC to ensure a day of operations run smoothly.
The Duty Officer will also be the first point of escalation for all IROPs, as well as specific responsibilities tasked by the Senior Manager, SOCC & Planning.
The Duty Officer will be based out of Edmonton, Alberta (YEG).Primary Job Functions:
The duties of the
Duty Officer include:
- Monitoring day-of operations flights and communicating delays, irregular operations (IROPs), or any other changes to function heads, as applicable
- Ensuring that daily tasks are on track and are being completed in a timely manner
- Monitor the company's flight operations software to ensure accuracy
- Investigating and coding delays for all flights with input from support departments
- Conducting cost analysis of all IROPs
- Coordinating departments during normal operations and IROPs to ensure proper customer service
- Be a leader
Secondary Job Functions:
- Be the point of contact for all operational IROPs
- Plan and coordinate recovery of all IROPs, taking into account the opinion of all different functions
- Determine any areas of concern for the upcoming week of flying
- Other duties and assignments, as required
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Ability to work in a highstress, everchanging work environment while prioritizing tasks and assignments
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- University/College degree/diploma considered an asset
- A current Transport Canada issued flight dispatcher certificate is considered an asset
- Previous Airline Operations Centre or Airport Operations experience is preferred
- Valid First Aid is an asset; the ability to pass and obtain a basic First Aid certificate is a requirement
Required Competencies:
- Verbal and written communications; i.e. The Duty Officer will need to ensure that all communications to crew members, suppliers, and customers are completed in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
- Problem Solving; i.e. The Duty Officer will regularly have to lead the team in order to solve problems and troubleshoot
- Decision Making; i.e. The Duty Officer will need to make decisions regarding scheduling of airplanes, IROP recovery, and decisions with significant financial implications
