- To provide accurate financial, analysis, inventory, and audit control reporting; including relative variances and solutions.
- Prepare and enter routine journal entries
- Maintain proper documentation of journal entries
- Prepare contract invoices, backup documentation, and maintain tracking system
- Review and analyze General Ledger and make necessary corrections
- Reconcile and balance key financial accounts discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Prepare and maintain financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Monitor project costs, including overhead, freight, increase in material costs, labor, etc., and report them on the correct G/L account - reflecting the true costs of the project. Compare costs to sales and prepare a variance report with recommendations on:
- Maintaining expected margins
- Generate data for future projects benchmarking and track long-term cost trends by collaborating with Engineering and Operations departments
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and meet deadlines
- Report audit status to the Controller
- Work closely with the internal auditor to fulfill requests
- Plan, collect, review the SOX package, and other supporting documentation before releasing audit documents to the auditor(s)
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and offer recommendations to enhance accounting and management practices
- Develop and document audit processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls with the Controller
- Analyze financial information, spot errors, and suggest efficiency improvements
- Support the Controller in forecasting 13-week cash flow weekly
- Identify actual variances, analyze cost drivers, develop recommendations, and present findings to the Controller
- Assist in coordinating annual physical inventory counts and cycle counts as required
- Investigate cycle counting variances, resolve issues with operations, and report outcomes to the Controller
- Select and inspect a cycle count of part(s) quarterly and report findings to operations and the Controller
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of month-end close
- Ensure obsolete inventory is maintained per budget, reporting to the Controller and requesting approval
- Provide accurate and timely financial information and reports to the Controller as needed
- Report inaccuracies in inventory to the controller
- B. Comm. or BA degree in Accounting, CPA is an asset
- Minimum 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing or a similar industry, is an asset
- Project Cost Management experience is a bonus
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/quarter-end/year-end close process
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Team Player, able to work with staff at all levels
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, i.e., MS Dynamics
- Hands-on experience with MRP/EPR systems
- Hands-on experience in inventory management
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential
- Curiosity and interest in learning
- Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills are crucial
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with personnel from various departments at all levels
