    Description

    Reporting to the President & CEO, The Vice President and Chief People Officer (VP and CPO) plays a critical role in strategically leading the Human Resources (HR) and Employee Wellness portfolio. This includes overseeing the planning, directing, supervision, coaching, and coordination of a team of professionals and administrative support staff. Key areas of responsibility encompass labor relations, collective bargaining, administration and interpretation of collective agreements, employee relations, employee wellness, compensation, pension and benefits, leadership development, performance management, and succession planning.

    The VP and CPO works in close partnership with executive leadership to evaluate and meet the organizational needs, guaranteeing alignment with wider goals. This role is essential for not only driving and advancing Good Samaritan's strategic initiatives but also for cultivating a positive and inclusive work environment while supporting our reconciliation efforts, which are fundamental to our organizational culture. By concentrating on enhancing HR functions and promoting employee well-being, the VP and CPO ensures the human resources and employee wellness portfolio supports a workplace where everyone feels valued and included.

    Education and Qualifications

    • Masters degree with focus on Human Resources Management or related field
    • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
    • Certified Health Executive designation (CHE) is an asset
    • Minimum of ten (10) years progressive leadership experience including five (5) years senior leadership experience
    • Experience working in the continuing care sector an asset.
    • Experience working in the non-profit sector an asset.

    Accountabilities

    • Providing executive leadership to all aspects of service delivery in the portfolios of human resources and employee wellness.
    • Create, review, and update policies and procedures to ensure alignment with operational goals and best practices.
    • Make informed decisions and take actions consistent with operational plans and legal requirements.
    • Prioritize the wellbeing, health, and safety for employees in all decision-making processes.
    • Develop and monitor annual operational plans to support the achievement of the overall organization's strategic plans, and key performance indicators.
    • Developing strategies to enhance human resources and Employee Wellness portfolio services.
    • Developing strategies to attract, recruit, develop, engage and retain employees.
    • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation efforts.
