The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852.The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto.

With over 4000 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.


The Staff Cook is responsible for planning, preparing and putting out two staff meals per shift according to dietary requirements and budget as well as performs other tasks as assigned by Sous-Chefs, and Management.


Hours of Work:


  • Available Monday to Friday between 8am 6pm
  • Incumbent may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Wage:

- $ per hour (commiserating with experience)

  • Benefits after 3 month qualification period
  • RRSP matching after 1 year of service

Job Duties:


  • Plan, prepare and put out two staff meals per shift according to dietary requirements and budget.
  • Able to work in all areas including Banquets and Line
  • Ensure that all par stocks are being kept securely and to the specified conditions
  • Maintain current knowledge of food ingredients and food preparation in order to provide specialized staff meals for those with dietary requirements.
  • Ensure that any anticipated shortages are communicated promptly to the Sous-Chefs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Food Handlers Certification required
  • Red seal is an asset
  • Postsecondary education or 2 years of work equivalent experience
  • Work well under pressure
  • Work productively in a strong team atmosphere
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Attend department meetings and participate in training as required

  • From May to October 150 Cherry Street, Toronto, ON
  • From November to April 141 St. George Street, Toronto, ON
