Merchandise Processing Associate
Habitat for Humanity runs a social enterprise called ReStore; a retail operation that helps fund our organization.

Greater Ottawa ReStores accept donations of quality new and used building supplies, furniture, appliances, housewares, and more from businesses and the public.

This position primarily works with new apparel, housewares, and décor items donated by key corporate partners.


This position includes the following duties:

  • Tracking and recording quantities/values of donations from key donors.
  • Sorting apparel and other donated material. Preparing it for sale.
  • Supporting salesfloor presentation and display of apparel and other merchandise.
  • Pricing merchandise consistently according to established guidelines.
  • Removing donor identifiers/labels. Upholding donor confidentiality agreements.
  • Instructing volunteers in supporting tasks.
  • Communication/collaboration with drivers/backroom staff in receiving materials, and with floor staff in moving material to the sales floor.
  • Organizing overstock storage and ensuring timely preparation of seasonally appropriate merchandise.
  • Ensuring distribution and transfer between Ottawa ReStore locations of relevant merchandise.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Other related duties as required.

Reports to:
Donations Supervisor, Store Manager


Hours:

hours per week

  • Availability to work weekdays and weekends

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Retail experience and/or warehousing experience is beneficial
  • Experience working with volunteers is beneficial
  • Basic computer skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well with others

Starting Salary:
$16 hourly

Part-time hours: 16-24 per week

$16.00 per hour
