Brandt is looking for a practical and business minded individual to fill a Legal Counsel position located in Brandt's Regina Head Office. This position will report directly to Brandt's Chief Legal Officer. About the Role:
Brandt's Legal Team consists of the Chief Legal Officer who is supported by the Senior Legal Counsel dedicated to Corporate/Commercial work, the Legal Counsel dedicated to Dispute Resolution work and two Legal Assistants dedicated to organizing the Legal Department's activities.
With Brandt's continued growth throughout Canada, the United States and recent entry into Australia and New Zealand, you will be responsible for providing legal and business advice to members of Brandt's senior management team around the world. The successful candidate will be expected to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic environment which requires the provision of practical and efficient solutions.
Specific tasks to be performed by the Legal Counsel will include the following:
o Commercial Legal Matters:
a. Assisting in mergers and acquisition activities by: (i) working with Brandt's Investments group in drafting all applicable legal documentation associated with a transaction; (ii) conducting due diligence; (iii) participating in negotiations; and (iv) assisting in all other related transaction tasks including integration matters;
b. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements with third parties related to Brandt's dealership and manufacturing businesses;
c. Supporting the acquisition and divestiture of real property throughout Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand including the negotiation of leases;
d. Supporting Brandt's procurement, engineering and development teams with construction contracts, RFPs and other agreements related to greenfield developments; and
e. Supporting Brandt's information technology team with respect to procurement and maintenance of information technology goods and services.
o Compliance:
a. Overseeing regulatory compliance matters for the Brandt Group of Companies and providing proactive advice on new developments in applicable laws to Brandt's senior management;
b. Working with other Brandt corporate groups to draft, implement and monitor Brandt policies, practices and procedures;
c. Overseeing Brandt's Privacy Policy; and
d. Assisting in internal investigations.
This is an in-person position with an office located at Brandt's Head Office in Regina, Saskatchewan.
