Strategic Analyst:


Primary Purpose:

The Strategic Analyst provides analytical expertise to support the development and implementation of evaluative processes within the College of Nursing that are necessary for quality improvement, efficiency, evidence informed decision making, and accreditation of programs.

The incumbent will provide leadership in the establishment, collection, interpretation, and communication of a variety of metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of College of Nursing programs that promote quality improvement of healthcare in Saskatchewan.


Nature of Work:

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Strategic Planning, the Strategic Analyst works in collaboration with a number of individuals and groups within the College of Nursing and acrossthe University of Saskatchewan.

Establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships that support collaboration and problem solving are essential for success in this position. The incumbent will act as a knowledge source to senior administrators, faculty, and staff.

The position requires the incumbent to manage priorities under pressure in a dynamic environment in order to meet competing demands and deadlines.

There is a high standard for the quality of work, attention to detail, and timely completion of projects to minimize risk factors.


Accountabilities:

Provide leadership and strategic direction in the development and implementation of qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate programs, processes, and college initiatives.

  • Identify and leverage the use of local and institutional data sources to promote efficiency, consistency, and accuracy of internal and external reporting requirements in the college.
  • Identify and interpret data sources, patterns and trend analysis that support evidence informed decision making.
  • Create evaluation metrics with supporting data collection/analysis methods based that are aligned with business functions.
  • Develop and promote the use of standards and best practices in the collection and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Provide statistical consultation to faculty researchers in collaboration with research facilitators.
  • Establish principles and tracking mechanisms that ensure data resources and measures are readily available and used to the fullest potential.
  • Represent the College of Nursing while collaborating with relevant units at the university, providing input on how data is captured, analyzed, and reported to meet the needs of the college, university, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, clear, and concise communications and reports in an appropriately consumable format for a variety of audiences.

Qualifications

Education:
A relevant university degree, a master's degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience with data analysis, and report writing is required.

Experience with trend analysis and development of recommendations that are implemented and have produced strategic results; creating and modifying data systems to produce value-added information that affects decision making; development of metrics and benchmarks and the development of data systems to produce information that provides senior leadership with direction and changes to ensure programs are on track and successful; technical experience with SAS, Crystal Reports, Banner, Sharepoint, Excel and Fluid surveys; experience with evaluation methods, government agencies and their systems would be an asset.

Experience in a post-secondary institution or health care setting is an asset.

Ability to provide technical leadership; ability to work independently with mínimal supervision; extremely strong analytical and problem solving skills; proven organizational, research, analytical and problem solving abilities; effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; proven ability to design metrics and benchmarks; proven ability to work on multiple projects and with competing priorities; well-developed time management skills and proficient computer skills.
