    Description

    Successful real estate finance and investment services firm with a great corporate culture SWIM has placed many people at this firm over the years with very positive feedback.

    A very stable and successful multi-entity real estate finance company (mortgages, property management, real estate investments, etc.) On behalf of our client, SWIM is looking for a Junior Accountant .

    The Junior Accountant will work very closely with the VP Accounting & Finance, the Intermediate Accountant and the Controller (the last two were placed by SWIM).

    will be responsible for accounts payable (much of it via EFT), accounts receivable, bank account and credit card reconciliations, managing various Excel spreadsheets, cheque runs, etc.

    These responsibilities are for the parent company as well as multiple entities that hold real estate assets, a mortgage investment corporation, a brokerage company, joint ventures, limited partnerships and associated holding companies.

    With time the Accountant can get more and more exposure to the full-cycle of accounting, including supporting month-end/quarter-end/year-end, financial reporting, and budgeting.

    The Accountant will also get to see many lines of business involving property accounting, fund accounting, investment accounting, trust accounting, etc .

    Candidates will have at least 1 year and ideally 2+ years of progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment.
    Enrolment in CPA program (early stages) is an asset.
    i.e. firms providing services in property management, mortgage brokerage, accounting, wealth management & financial advice, architecture, law, etc.)
    Strong computer skills are required, particularly using Excel . Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is highly preferred.

    More important than anything else are the strengths and soft skills of the new Junior Accountant- we are looking for someone who is friendly, adaptable, detail-orientated, organized, reliable, curious, team-oriented, and passionate about producing high quality accounting work.

    This is a diverse accounting role that will enable you to work for an interesting, stable, and reputable organization.

    Located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, BC in a beautiful corporate office. Base salary is commensurate with accounting experience and education, likely in the range of $48,000 to $65,000. Plus health & dental benefits, paid vacation, relevant professional development support, and the aforementioned daily paid lunch program.
