    The Opportunity:

    For the -25 academic year, we are seeking full and part-time Teachers to work at Branksome Hall in various subject areas, including:

  • English Language and Literature
  • Sciences - Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Sport exercise and Health Science, Environmental Science and Societies
  • Mathematics
  • Modern and Classical Languages – French, Spanish, Mandarin, Latin
  • Individuals and Societies - Economics, Geography, History, Business, Accounting, Civics
  • Arts - Visual Art, Media Studies, Film,
  • Design

    • With strong communication skills and a proven ability to build a caring rapport with students, the successful candidates will report to the Instructional Leaders of their respective subject area.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability;
  • Fosters a love of learning in young people;
  • Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;
  • Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;
  • Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive curriculum for diverse learners;
  • Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with a focus on inquiry based learning;
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;
  • Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;
  • Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;
  • Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;
  • Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties.

    • Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialist in the respective subject area;
  • Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with I/S qualifications;
  • 2 - 3 years' related teaching experience preferred;
  • Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;
  • Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;
  • A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;
  • Experience and/or commitment to incorporating DEI principles into curriculum development and teaching practice;
  • Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;
  • Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;
