About the BCMB
The Beverage Container Management Board (BCMB) is the regulatory authority for beverage container recycling in Alberta.
Established as a management board under Alberta's Environmental and Protection and Enhancement Act, the BCMB is also a non-for-profit organization.
BCMB leads the development of policy and programs that enables the collection and recycling of beverage containers in Alberta.About the position
Registration Compliance Officers are designated as Inspectors under the EPEA by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas.
For manufacturers and retailers, they are the first link to the beverage container recycling industry and as such represent the regulator in everything they do.
In an ever-changing regulatory environment, this position will attend various conferences and events with the rest of the team to promote collaboration and partnership with the stakeholders across the Beverage Container Recycling Industry in Alberta.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
A
Registration and Manufacturer Programs:
- Manage all aspects of a manufacturer's account information and beverage container
- Educate and provide ongoing service for internal and external stakeholders (depots, manufacturers, Collection Service Agent and the general public) on beverage container registration requirements.
- Assist the department in its role of managing compliance with manufacturers and approving acceptable beverage containers in the Alberta beverage container recycling system.
- Draft notices to Registrants and Depots regarding updates, new processes, etc.
- Respond to issues or inquiries submitted as 'tickets' through the Quality Monitoring System.
B
Registration Compliance:
- Assessment of noncompliance according to BCMB compliance frameworks for Manufacturers, Distributors and Retailers.
- Draft communications for those entering and escalating through the compliance framework to be reviewed by the Manager of Registrations.
C.
Registration Database Management and Quality Monitoring System (QMS):
- Reporting on monthly and quarterly registrations and any other related reporting requirements.
- Manage all aspects of the registration database such as:
- Creating logins and passwords, and
- Develop, deliver and facilitate training for database and portal users.
- Perform data entry and maintenance for the inhouse registration system and portal.
- Respond and followup on QMS tickets and educate external stakeholders for issues related to product registration or container validation.
- Work with AGLC to confirm the registrations related to alcoholic beverage containers.
D.
Committee and Industry Support (applicable to Level I)
- Participate on internal and industrywide working committees as required
- Schedule, coordinate and committee meeting (internal and external committee meetings) as required.
- Preparation of committee meeting material, including agendas, information packages, meeting minutes and meeting summary reports to stakeholders.
- Assist with organization of industry events including Annual General Meetings, Business Planning Session, multiday Strategic Planning Session, Industry Joint Board Meeting and other events as required
- Training of new staff and cross training as required
- Act as a representative of the BCMB at external events.
E.
Mentorship (applicable to Level II)
- Support the Registration Compliance Officer(s) Level I for any inquiries received and act as an escalation point.
- For further escalation of issues, carryout initial research, gathering relevant
Manager of Registrations and/or Director of Operations.
- Train and support the onboarding of new members to the Registration team.
- Create and update training guides and standard operating procedure documentation for changes in process.
- Ensure administrative duties are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Acting as a backup, as needed, to the Registration Compliance Officer(s) Level I for the registrations
