- Responsible for brainstorming, creating and implementing analytics to support the overall business objectives and directives of the organization. This may include executing research and analysis on business processes, business opportunities, and business needs.
- Guide accounting and finance teams on how to best use the data to develop relevant findings.
- Conducting ad-hoc data analyses which may involve assignments to ingest, analyze, clean and transform financial data sets (e.g. revenues, expenses, cost centers, projects) to generate actionable findings and visualizations.
- Interact with Finance teams, IT teams and others to ensure business requirements are understood and implemented.
- Work on defining data quality and ensure data integrity from the data pipeline.
- Complete data analysis and discovery to better understand data and the story it is telling to drive actionable results.
- Manage access, security, and licensing within Power BI
- Monitor healthy and integrity of data pipelines
- Debugging and assistance on FINA dashboards
- Setup and monitor our FINA support mailbox
- Hold regular office hours to support FINA initiatives
- Currently an undergraduate attending University/College
- Demonstrated proficiency in Power BI / Tableau
- Comfortable using PowerQuery, writing DAX expressions, calculated fields, etc...
- Wizardry in Microsoft Excel
- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, analytical and research skills
- A positive can-do attitude,
- Creates bridges instead of borders, approaches challenges with curiosity, and is comfortable with ambiguity.
- Experience writing queries in SQL
- Experience working with Google Suite & Workday Financials
- Working knowledge of Cloud Data technologies (AWS, Snowflake, etc.)
- Has worked with either Python/R
- Knowledge of Capital Markets Industry

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Strategic Foresight & Analytics, the Data Insights Analyst Student Intern will be part dashboard designer, part evangelizer for the creation of a process improvement or an internal analytics product that seeks to uncover actionable insights that inform TMX's Finance strategy development and execution. This is a high-impact, cross- enterprise role that advances your passion in data, analytics, and finance.The Intern will leverage TMX data assets to provide quantitative and strategic support to internal collaborators, namely:
Building data products for internal use: design, enrich, and publish self-service connected datasets/dashboards for use across the entire Accounting / Finance department.
Support for our Financial Insights & Analytics (FINA) Workstream: provide data access management, pipeline monitoring, and support for FINA dashboards and datasets.
Creating end to end user solutions: This may include flow charts, process documentation, and presentations to help support the adoption of new processes and available technology.
