About Us:


The Department of Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) provides supports for seniors, families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs.

The Provincial Training Team within the Appeals, Administration and Accountability Branch (AAA) ensures that the appropriate training, learning and professional development resources are provided to meet the learning needs of Ministry employees


This includes:

  • Collaborating with internal business areas to determine staff development needs
  • Consulting with internal business program areas to ensure the knowledge and skill development of workers
  • Providing ongoing training, staff development and training tools
  • Tracking, maintaining and storing training records and material
  • Coordinate the promotion, communication and advertising of training activities.

Job responsibilities:

  • The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for providing expert adult learning and training consultation, and advice to Ministry program areas in support of the Ministry's and GoA's mandate to deliver the most effective and efficient services to Albertans through highly trained professional staff.
  • The position is responsible for developing and designing training programs that ensure staff have the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to effectively deliver program services to primarily vulnerable Albertans.
  • The Learning and Development Consultant oversees and manages the delivery of training to ministry staff, ensuring value for dollars, ties to ministry and corporate goals, and use of best practices in adult learning.
  • The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and enhancements to existing Branch training and development initiatives to ensure course content is current, reflective of changing client needs, and is relevant.
  • The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for the production of training programs which also includes designing, developing, delivering and/or implementing to ensure that all staff have timely access to training opportunities necessary to maintain their skill level.

Qualifications:


The position requires a post-secondary degree in social services or related field (adult education/training, organizational development) with a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience.

The position requires sound knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Designing, developing, delivering and/or implementing and evaluating adult training;
  • Current and emerging training methods, technology, tools and learning aids;
  • Online training delivery methodologies and tools;
  • Knowledge of Seniors, Community and Social Services programs and service delivery staff needs;
  • Research methodologies;
  • Ministry business strategies, priorities, programs, and resources;
  • GoA learning, training and development initiatives and strategies.

Salary:

$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly. ($67,548 - $88,681 /year)
